I found these really interesting photos by an unknown artist in which his manages to bring the history of Saint Petersburg to life. The artist took modern day pictures of Saint Petersburg, and incorporated into them photos of Saint Petersburg when it was still Leningrad. The artist chose photos from the infamous 900-day siege of Leningrad by Nazi Germany.
The photos are very powerful, with photos of casualities that make the tragic history of the city palpable. The transition between past and present is almost seemless as well.
