I saw Brunelleschi's Duomo this summer, and I was struck both by the beauty of the paintings and the convincing space that he had created. I loved the way that he worked with where the paintings were, making it look like people were looking down at you, especially at the top. Linear perspective is definitely used, as everything converges at the center of the dome. The majority of the image - excluding the top - is rather flat, as everything seems to be occurring on one plane, and so space is really created in the subjects. Gradations of color, especially on garments and clouds. Overlapping is used most effectively at the top.
