I wanted to create a Valentine's Day postcard that was both romantic and graphically interesting. I found an image of peonies online and raised the contrast to make the colors pop and then used the magic wand tool to erase the area around the flowers. I wanted to change the texture of the image, so I tried a few different filters, eventually using the "cut out" filter--it reminds me of the technique that Matisse employed in Jazz. Finally, I used the paint bucket to fill in the background with a dusty blue that contrasts nicely with the flowers.
