41 - Olivia - What is art?

Art can be a manifestation of an artist's thoughts.  An artist can attempt to record the world as subjectively as possible, but because visual perception varies between each individual, even the most "realistic" of paintings still has the bias of the artist's mind.  Art can be something that evokes an emotion or any other type of response in a viewer, whether it be positive or negative.  While typically judged as a work that is aesthetically pleasing, I think that a work can be considered art even if it is "ugly".  This begs the question, is something still art if it lacks an audience?  I think yes. In this instance, the artist represents the creator as well as the viewer.  This places no bounds on art.
