I chose this picture because this is the replication that my family has of Monet above our fireplace. I've always loved the piece, regardless of if I was seeing the original everyday versus a replica. Because of reproduction it was possible to have this image in our house to enjoy everyday. In instances such as these, I do agree with exact replication of art; when there is no change in the image, purely just replication. However, the originality of a piece is what creates its beauty to me. An original work of art is the creation of the artist itself; though many may have interpretation of it, it is the original that defines the art. I feel that originality is what of the defining concepts that art has; something that someone else will fail to ever create exactly.
