Jill Greenberg is the photographer I was talking about in class today. She graduated from RISD in 1989 and is known for her portraits of crying babies, "End Times." She gave the kids candy, then took it away and took a picture immediately after, causing some to accuse her of unethical behavior.
She also took unflattering portraits of John McCain for the Atlantic Monthly, using lights from below to accentuate wrinkles and lumps, without him or his staff realizing what was going on. Some were outraged at her, accusing of her deceitfulness, while others supported her as an artist.
The Atlantic Monthly chose to use one of the less unpleasant photographs, but Greenberg posted the rest on her website.
